The strong content with emotional essence have never missed capturing the hearts and interests of audiences. The young breed of filmmakers in Tamil cinema are working wonders in box office with their brilliant ideas. The year 2023 has witnessed an unbelievable number of filmmakers proving their prodigious directorial spell. Filmmaker Dakshina Moorthy, who embarks on his directorial venture with the film ‘Criminal’ has already created positive talks about the film’s making in the trade circles. The film is produced by Parsa Pictures P.R. Meenakshi Sundaram and IB Karthikeyan of Big Print Pictures.
While the shooting is already completed and postproduction work is nearing completion, the makers have unveiled the film’s first look, which looks intriguing .
Director Dakshina Moorthy says, “It’s really great to see the appreciations and praises for our film’s first look.” Sharing his working experience in this movie, he says, “During my initial attempts to become a filmmaker, I had written a couple of scripts, and had to go through lots of hurdles to get them materialised. During this juncture, I had an ideation sparking off at a tea shop and that’s when the inception of ‘Criminal’ happened. When the producers Parsa Pictures Meenakshi Sundaram and Big Print Pictures IB Karthikeyan listened to the script, they were impressed and it eventually got into the next level. With the arrival of Gautham Karthik and Sarath Kumar, the project got bigger. Both the producers have been too cooperative and gave complete creative freedom from not interfering in my selection of technicians, and spent a lavish budget to make sure that the project shapes up perfectly.”
He continues to add, “So far, many Tamil films based on the nativity and love stories in the backdrops of Madurai have been made. But ‘Criminal’ will be an exception, as it is going to be a crime-thriller in the city. The entire crew has been supportive and helpful and the working experience will be an unforgettable memory to cherish for me. We have made many local residents of Madurai to act and dub in their own voices for this film. Consequently, when an old woman was dubbing, she was surprised and asked, “Are there really such people out here in Madurai?” The entire stress that I had during the process of shooting disappeared into the thin air with her great words of appreciation. We are happy that the film has started receiving good response even before the theatrical release. Our entire team is so excited to deliver a film of our hard work to the cinema lovers soon.”
Sam CS is composing the music,Lyrics by Snehan, Prasanna S Kumar is handling the cinematography and Manikanda Balaji is taking care of the editing for this film.
The official announcement of the film’s audio, trailer and worldwide theatrical release will be out soon.
